What is the deadline for applications? The deadline for applications is generally six weeks before the next class is scheduled to begin. Please see front page of this website for the actual deadline date. Can the JD program be accelerated so that one may obtain the degree in less than four years? No. Our Juris Doctor program is structured and designed to meet the California State Bar requirement of four years of legal study, which allows you to sit for the California Bar. What are the required texts for the first year? A list of required texts can be obtained from the Oak Brook College Administrative Office. Does Oak Brook College offer access to LEXIS NEXIS or Westlaw? Yes. These tools are available to students in their second, third, and fourth year of study. What are the specific arrangements of the Student Payment Plan? The Student Payment Plan allows you to pay for one year of study over a 10-month period, generally starting the month coursework begins. There is a $75 processing fee when this option is used. Does Oak Brook College offer financial aid? Unfortunately, we are unable at this time to offer financial aid to our students. I work full timeIs it possible to go through Oak Brook College at the same time? Should I get into law school even though I have been in my present occupation for 20 years? Do you think a father or mother can complete the JD program? The answer to these questions lie in one simple question you need to ask yourself: Is God calling me to law school, and specifically, is God calling me to the Oak Brook College of Law? If God has called you to Oak Brook College, He will enable you to complete it no matter what your age, employment, financial, or family situation. Many of our students are employed full time and a number of our students have families of their own. It is vital that you ensure God is calling you to this, otherwise you will probably be overwhelmed well short of completion. Most people who drop out of Oak Brook College generally drop out during the first year, mostly because they were not absolutely sure that this was what God had called them to do. For more thoughts on this issue, please read A Message from the Dean, in which this subject is further explored. How do you teach courtroom procedures and presentation? We offer several elective workshops (Appellate Advocacy and Trial Advocacy) in the third and fourth years of study. The workshops take place in Oklahoma City during our conferences. Where do you hold the required orientation conference? While this is subject to change, we currently hold all conferences (including orientation, FYLSX review, and the Trial Advocacy and Appellate Advocacy workshops) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at a private hotel facility. Registration information for lodging and meals will be provided once an applicant has been accepted into Oak Brook College. |
