Can I enroll at any time in Oak Brook College? While you may submit your application at any time, first-year classes are enrolled in August of each year. Unlike most correspondence law schools, students must follow the class schedule. Since all students in a class are working on their assignments simultaneously, they receive the benefit of peer interaction. All of the students have access to E-mail, and maintain communication with one another throughout the year. What are the requirements for admission? In order to qualify for admission into Oak Brook College, the applicant must:
Submit the items listed above to the Oak Brook College Administrative Office (see address below) no later than six weeks prior to the beginning of the first-year class. Upon receiving all forms, you will be notified of your acceptance into Oak Brook College. Oak Brook College of Law and Government Policy What are the undergraduate requirements for admission to OBCL if I do not wish to take a CLEP exam? The applicant must have completed at least two years of college work, which college work shall not be less than one-half of the collegiate work acceptable for a bachelor's degree granted upon the basis of a four-year period of study by a college or university that has degree granting authority from the state in which it resides. To have completed two years of college work, an applicant shall have earned at least 60 semester, or 90 quarter, units of college credit with an average grade at least equal to that required for graduation. What is the CLEP examination? The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is an examination designed to evaluate students' academic placement. The California Board of Bar Examiners has approved the CLEP examination as satisfying the 60 college credit requirement for pre-legal education. In order to qualify by examination, you must pass the English Composition test (with or without essay) with a minimum score of 55, and pass any two of the following tests with a minimum score of 50: Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and History, College Mathematics. To register for the CLEP exam, or to find the nearest testing site, contact the CLEP offices at (609) 771-7865 or go to www.collegeboard.com. The Oak Brook College CLEP Code is 7675. May I submit my application prior to taking my CLEP examinations? Yes, but your acceptance into Oak Brook College will be pending your results on the examination. The college office must receive the CLEP results at least seven days before the class begins. Where can I find a schedule of the dates and locations of the Basic Life Principles Seminar? You can find an up-to-date schedule on the IBLP Web site at http://www.iblp.org/. Or you may call the Seminar Office at (214) 421-0001. My schedule and location does not allow me to attend any of the Basic Life Principles Seminars scheduled for this year. Are there any other possibilities for me to go through this Seminar? Yes, you may download an application to complete the seminar via DVD at home by clicking here. Must I attend the Basic Life Principles Seminar before I am admitted into the program? Yes, attendance to the Seminar is required prior to your acceptance into Oak Brook College. What is the deadline for applications? The deadline for applications is generally six weeks before the next class is scheduled to begin. Will my training as a paralegal allow me some credit towards my Juris Doctor Degree? No. While paralegal training will give you some legal background that will be helpful in going through our JD program, we cannot apply credits from your paralegal training to your JD. Do you accept transfers from other schools? We consider granting transfer credit on a case-by-case basis. However, since there are so few schools that have a mission, purpose, and educational method that is comparable to ours, transfer credit is not often granted. We will need to review a copy of your transcript from your former law school, as well as your application stating your goal in pursuing law and your personal agreement with the statement of faith and mission of the school, before a final decision can be made. |
